A transplant from the East Coast, Grant Drake, MD, came to the University of Michigan to complete his psychiatric training and stayed in Ann Arbor for his career and to raise his 3 children. Most of his career as a general psychiatrist was private practice in Ann Arbor, and he retired fully 2 years ago. Part of his last 10 years in practice was half-time work at the Women’s Huron Valley state prison in Ypsilanti.
Dr. Drake and Mike Ball first met “long ago” when Mike was Grant’s son’s favorite hockey coach. They reconnected at an Ark concert 7 years ago and discovered many common interests, and Grant became a board member soon after.
