The kids write sad songs, happy songs, hopeful songs, and goofy songs. Sometimes they are all of these things. Here’s an especially poignant song written by a group earlier this spring.
Walk Through The Door
Today I hate, tomorrow I hurt
I feel like the rocks in the dirt
Most days I feel drained, sometimes I have faith
Heartbreak today, respect tomorrow
Sometimes I’m broken, sometimes I’m healed
Sometimes I’m open, sometimes concealed
All of this sadness, turning into madness
Confusing thoughts, my life feels held back
Emotional regulation that just won’t settle
Gray clouds, but blue skies ahead
Sometimes I vanish like birds in the sky
Sometimes I appear like fire in your eyes
Ooo (x4)
Happiness no violence, I won’t be surrounded
By sadness or silence anymore
My confidence is growing, I could start living
Now I can walk through the door
I’m leaving my past behind
I won’t be defined…by fear
Ooo (x4)
